Abstract

Lignin Kraft lignin, the most abundant technical lignin resource, is a renewable alternative to fossil sources yet highly underutilized. In article number 2100406, Chengke Zhao, Fengxia Yue and co-workers identify a total of 20 lignin-derived compounds, including novel catechol monomers, 1,2-diarylethane dimers, and terphenyl trimers, in the low-Mw fraction of Eucalyptus kraft lignin, which provides in-depth insights into structural features, selective fractionation, and valorization of technical lignins.
