Abstract

THE ethical theory usually called intuitionism has been the subject of a great number of critical papers. One of the most respected of these is P. F. Strawson's Ethical Intuitionism ;' and his attack on W. D. Ross's position is the most highly thought of part of that paper. It will be argued here that the attack rests upon a misreading of Ross and is totally ineffective. Strawson describes Ross's view in this way:
