Abstract

During the past few years the demand for counseling and guidance has increased tremendously. Prior to the war, counseling and guidance services tended to be found largely in educational institutions, wherein students faced with educational alternatives, vocational selection, and personal problems were offered the services of counselors. Today every large city has several overburdened counseling agencies, some publicly supported and some organ ized as private enterprises, all attempting to meet the demands for counseling on almost every type of problem ranging from vocational choice to marital difficulties.
