Abstract

There is now a test to assess your genetic risk of developing opioid use disorder (see story, this page). We have questions. If you have a genetic risk, wouldn't you know this from your parents or other relatives? Or is this test mainly for people who don't know their own biological parents? Also, when was it discovered that the genetic risk of addiction is specific to only one type of substance? Do you think such a test would be useful in your practice?
