Abstract

The continued embrace of harm reduction by policymakers has led to a focus on “safe supply,” meaning exactly what? As many people have pointed out, we have a “safe supply” of alcohol, nicotine, and prescription medications, including opioids. How safe are they? As journalists, we object to the misuse of words, so will continue to use scare quotes around the word “safe” when it applies to street drugs.
