Da Nang is a big city, second only to Saigon in population. The Air Base is the most active strip in the world, with planes coming and going to supply most of the northern portion of South Vietnam. There are Army, Marine, Navy and Seabee bases too, all located on the outskirts of the sprawling city. The city itself is, not surprisingly, defaced by several years of war.
