EVIDENCE-BASED ANSWER Yes. In adults with hypertension, routine use of salt substitutes compared with standard sodium chloride (NaCl) lowers systolic blood pressure (SBP) by 6 to 13 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) by 2 to 8 mmHg (SOR: C, based on a meta-analysis of RCTs and 2 other RCTs with disease-oriented outcomes).
