Abstract

Impurity necklaces are scattering sites randomly distributed on a line normal to the electron transport direction in wide wires of the two-dimensional electron gas. The level density and correlation function of the transmission matrix eigenvalues of these systems are expressed exactly a a function of a short-range impurity scattering potential. The nonuniversal dependence of the averages and the fluctuations of the transport properties on microscopic parameters can be explained by the absence of long-range level repulsion.
