Abstract

The recently derived dispersion relation for elastic forward scattering of pions by unpolarized deuterons is compared with the experimental data in the Chew impulse approximation. It is shown that the dispersion relation is consistent with these data. However, for a more detailed test of the theory it is necessary to consider other π-D processes for which the contribution from the non-observable part in the dispersion relations is not a small quantity. It is indicated that for this purpose consideration of the elastic forward scattering amplitude for spin-flip is sufficient.
