Abstract
Summary This article adresses the question whether and under what circumstances improvising (besides the singing of songs) is applicable and appropriate in music therapy with elderly dementia patients. This question is controversially discussed among music therapists. A master's degree thesis entitled «Improvising in music therapy treatment of elderly dementia patients" centres on this question, which is researched on the basis of an empirical study.
