Abstract

This article describes the blow-in of a large blast furnace with the use of sinter prepared especially for this purpose. It is shown that use of the “blow-in” sinter makes operation of the furnace more reliable during the blow-in period which follows an overhaul and reduces the time required to restore the furnace to its normal operating regime while also minimizing fuel consumption.
