Abstract
The problem of a piston reliability ensuring in the high-power diesel engine service and specifically the tear in particular areas of the piston skirt is discussed in the paper. The creep process and stress relaxation simulation for aluminium silicon alloy Al-25 is performed. The alloy creep threshold in a short-time term is ascertained. The material creep area on the piston surface is determined. The approach for tear elimination in the investigated area is suggested.
