Abstract
Using the direct x-ray fluorescence determination of Ba, Sr, Zr, and Zn in soils as an example, it was shown that the nature of the test material as well as the biogeochemical properties of the analytes should be taken into account for improving the reliability of analytical data in determining trace elements in soils.
