Abstract

Trans and gender diverse (TGD) people experience both high rates of sexual violence and significant barriers to accessing healthcare. It is therefore important that clinical forensic medicine practitioners are aware of how to best undertake forensic genital examinations (for the purposes of forensic specimen collection and injury documentation) in TGD complainants of sexual assault in order to reduce the barriers to examination, minimise re-traumatisation and maximise forensic utility.
