Abstract

This paper proposed a method to prepare nano-Si3N4 reinforced BNi-2 composite filler utilized to braze SiC ceramics. The interfacial microstructure and mechanical properties were changed with adding nano-Si3N4. The results indicated that the addition of nano-Si3N4 in the BNi-2 optimized the distribution of the graphite and nano-Si3N4 regulated the coefficient of thermal expansion in the seam, which resulted in the increase of the shear strength of SiC-SiC joint. The shear strength of the joints with composite filler was 26.1 MPa, which was ∼222.2 % higher than that of the joint brazed with BNi-2 filler under the same experimental conditions.
