Abstract
This study shows a pavement structural quality assessment method combined with Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD). Through the detection results of GPR on the internal structure of pavement, we corrected the thickness, initial modulus range, and Poisson’s s ratio of the numerical hypothetical model in modulus back-calculation. We observed that the corrected numerical hypothetical model had significantly improved the accuracy of modulus back-calculation results. At the same time, we also compared the influence degree of the change in each structural parameter on the modulus back-calculation results. In addition, we used 3D-Move Analysis to analyze the stress and strain state of each structural layer of the pavement under various structural parameter combinations. The results show that the correction of structural parameters based on the GPR detection results of each structural layer significantly improved the accuracy of the modulus back-calculation results. At the same time, the accuracy of stress and strain calculation results of each structural layer was indirectly improved. It is suggested to implement this method for pavement structure quality assessment.
