Abstract
Efficiency within a theatre team is paramount in completing the required caseload. In order to improve efficiency in our orthopaedic spinal theatre, we trained members of the theatre team to use an image intensifier, which eliminated the need for a radiographer to be present in the theatre. In practice, the main results of this change are an improvement in output and less demands on the radiographers. In addition, staff trained on the image intensifier have found the process rewarding, both professionally and personally.
