Abstract

Background: In 2016, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) published updated safe sleep environment recommendations in order to reduce the risk of all sleep-related infant deaths. Currently, infants admitted to the UMass Memorial Children’s Medical Center are often not placed in safe sleep environments. This modeling of unsafe sleep practices by healthcare providers likely increases the prevalence of unsafe sleep practices at home.
