Abstract
The planning and delivery of radiation oncology treatments have increased in complexity at a rapid rate over the past decade. As a consequence, our ability to insure the safety and quality of information flow through the process has diminished, requiring significant increases in personnel, time, and resources in order to achieve a clinically acceptable treatment environment. In response to this challenge, Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) efforts in radiation oncology (IHE-RO) have focused on identifying significant issues, developing solutions, and testing them in clinically realistic environments.
