Abstract

The objective of the research was to find out that the use of Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition could improve the ability of the students in reading skill on spoof text. This research employed intact research design. The researcher applied purpose sampling which involved experimental and control groups. He applied two instruments (observation and test) in collecting the data. The result of the data analysis showed that the mean score of experimental group (88) was greater than the mean score of control group (76.80) and the result of t-counted (3.39) which was greater than t-table (2.013). There was a significant difference of the achievement. In short, the researcher hypothesis was accepted that the application of Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition method was effective in teaching reading skill on spoof text of the tenth grade students at MAN 1 Palu.
