Abstract

For many people with neurological conditions, bladder and bowel involvement are among the most important quality-of-life issues. Good management has positive outcomes for physical health, such as reduction of risk factors for decubitus ulcers and urinary tract infections (UTIs), but also psychological, environmental and financial impact in areas such as improved self-esteem, ability to socialise and employment. Since pain is a significant factor for many neurological patients, any improvement in general wellbeing, self-esteem, and social engagement may help improve patients’ experience of pain.
