Abstract

This article aims to explore the services and support available to women experiencing mental health conditions during the perinatal period, from the perspective of a third-year student mental health nurse. Through critical appraisal of the literature and evidence available on this subject, the author aims to provide knowledge and understanding of different approaches and services available to support vulnerable women. Recommendations for practice development are also discussed with a focus on the development of interprofessional working between health care professionals.
