Abstract
Natural fiber can be effectively developed in numerous tropical and available all through the world. Today these fibers are considered as environmental pollution free [Eco-friendly] materials. The main objective of this present work is to study the improvement in mechanical properties of Alkaline-treated Palm Sheath composites. The fibers were treated with 0.25 Mole and 0.5 Mole of sodium hydroxide [NaOH] for 2 Hours. The tensile and flexural properties have been improved above 70% for 0.5 Mole sodium hydroxide which may be due to reduced water absorption of the composites. There is no significant changes have been observed in impact strength of the composites. The main applications of the composites were making door panels, chair backs, headliners, package trays, dashboards, and inside the parts of auto motives.
