Abstract
A grid-connected microgrid should meet the low voltage ride through (LVRT) requirements. It means that in addition to reactive power injection during low voltage conditions, microgrid has to remain connected to the grid for a predefined time. In this paper, the bridge type fault current limiter (BFCL) is used to improve the low voltage ride through capability of grid-connected microgrids. A new method is proposed to control the BFCL and the voltage-source converters within the microgrid for this purpose. Effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulation results and comparison with previous methods.
