Improving information dissemination and collective data directory for focus group via web based system and SMS

Abstract

Mobile phone technology has a great impact on today society to be in circle of connectivity. It acts as one of the commonly used communication medium in acquiring information. This paper explores the adoption of web-based Short Messaging System (SMS) to improve information dissemination and effective usage of data directory for focus group, especially among students and lecturers. We developed UniKL Comm- Text Alert System which provides an alternative way of handling and disseminating information. The outcome of the study proves that the service provided is good in usability and more efficient because it reaches all target recipients.
