Abstract
Indonesia has local livestock breeds, both ruminant and non-ruminant. The existence and preservation of those animals is very important. The government, the concerned parties and farmers of community member are required to be responsible for maintaining the productivity of livestock. The quality genetic could be improved by applying breeding and selection. There are three efforts can be used to improve the livestock population and productivity, those are artificial insemination, embryo transfer, and separation technology of spermatozoa X and Y. The objective to be achieved is to help meet the need of food, especially animal protein, of the domestic community, in addition to the welfare of the community.
