Abstract

This chapter explores funding trends in Uzbekistan higher education system. We considered the experience of many EU countries, keeping in mind that Uzbekistan has its own characteristics. The purpose of this study was to determine and assess the level of funds allocated from the state budget to Uzbekistan higher education institutions and their use. Our study revealed that, due to the fact that a socially oriented market economy is being affected in Uzbekistan, the role of the state budget in financing higher education is immensely important. It also revealed the number of students and the level of tuition fees paid by them. We considered three indicators, the number of students, tuition fees, and scholarships, and how they affect changes in educational expenses. We performed a correlation analysis of the effect of these variables on general educational expenses, and we evaluated the results, concluding with some recommendations.
