Abstract

A full-duplex radio-on-fiber (ROF) transport system based on wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) and optical add-drop multiplexing techniques, as well as employing a simple fiber Bragg grating (FBG) filter at the receiving site, is proposed and demonstrated. Over a long-haul fiber link, good transmission performance is obtained in our proposed systems. Since our proposed system does not use a sophisticated optical single sideband (SSB) transmitter, it reveals a prominent alternative with advantages in simplicity and cost. Such a proposed full-duplex ROF transport system is suitable for the long-haul microwave optical link.
