Abstract
ABSTRACTPort logistics is one of the major sectors influenced by fast globalisation due to technological innovations. . While positive impacts of a port spread wider area, negative impacts intensify in the location of port. To lead the regional economic development by increasing the competition levels of the ports, while minimizing the negative impacts is the main issue in this study. In order to increase the competitiveness and performance level of the port, it has been proposed to implement the Port Community System (PCS) and the dry port railway connection. In order to reduce the harmful gas emission values of ships in port, usage of renewable and environmentally friendly energy generated by Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) method as an Onshore Power Supply System (OPS) has been proposed. Different scenarios have been modelled for before and after cases of each proposal by using Arena simulation software and results have been evaluated through Boston Consulting Group (BCG) portfolio analyses method. This article is a revised and expanded version of a paper entitled ‘A Study on Improving Competitiveness Level of Turkish Ports in the Frame of Green Port Concept’ presented at International Conference on Technology, Engineering and Science (ICONTES), Antalya/Turkey, October 26–29, 2017.
