Abstract

In recent years, the NHS has enjoyed unprecedented increases in funding, leading to significant improvements in the quality of patient care and a closing of the gap between supply and demand. Over the last 60 years, NHS spending has grown as a share of national income from around 3% in 1950 to nearly 9% today.
