Abstract

ABSTRACTAttendance for cervical screening in response to computer-generated invitations has been disappointing. The paper examines the extent to which health education can be expected to deal with the problem. A typology of reasons for non-attendance is presented which indicates that changing beliefs and attitudes is only one part of the answer. Attention must also be given to the accuracy of the database and to the ways the service is organised and provided.
