Abstract
In order to increase the maximum terminal voltage of the Cologne FN tandem accelerator the inhomogeneous voltage divider at tube #1 was replaced by a homogeneous one. After this alternation it was possible to operate the accelerator at 10.6 MV and in test experiments up to 11 MV. Because of the stronger focusing strength at the entrance of the first accelerator tube the beam optics at the injector was modified.
