Abstract

To improve the throughput of Bluetooth-based WPAN (Wireless Personal Area Network), the interference of Bluetooth piconets in WPAN is the important factor. It is decided by the hamming correlation of Bluetooth Frequency Hopping (FH) selected sequence. In this paper the WPAN model and data packet collision model are built and the relations about WPAN throughput, the maximum hamming correlation of FH selected sequence and the numbers of Bluetooth piconets are analyzed. The functions of WPAN throughput are deduced. After analyzing the performance of Bluetooth FH selected sequence, the original algorithm is replaced by a new chaotic algorithm. The theoretical analysis proves that the new chaotic FH sequences selected algorithm could improve the WPAN throughput. The simulation results also prove the theoretical analysis. The test result with system on chip (SoC) platform and CSR's Bluecore4 Bluetooth module get the same conclusion. All of these could prove that the new chaotic algorithm can improve the WPAN throughput effectively.
