Abstract

The problem of instability in the modern power system is needed to be attended very carefully so as to go with the newly added power plants an extended wide range load of the system. So a smooth online coordination between the both quantities is needed to achieve good power quality. With the incorporation of power electronics modules it is possible to increase the power quality in terms of voltage profile by matching the impedances of Load and Distribution system. TCSC is one of the best result oriented method because it is not only protected agenized disturbances but quick system stability is also achieved by using TCSC (Thyristor control series capacitor). It is possible to improve power quality by reducing system disturbance, harmonics etc. TCSC used in series compensation to achieved to regulated power flow and minimum active and reactive power losses in system. All three phases of load terminal voltage are being adjusted to active voltage improvement. Here a nonlinear welding load is fed by TCSC which is connected in series between system and load and TCSC capacitor control is done through firing angle control for increasing voltage profile in distribution system. The simulation is conducted for various firing angle and observation of improvement of power quality in a distribution system is being achieved. In this simulation, working on two mode of conduction that is capacitive and inductive mode for the various firing angle is being achieved and a comparative study is being done for the power system quality with and without series compensation.
