Abstract

Abstract Magnetically levitated carrying system has been developed. In this system, pinning force of high temperature bulk superconductor (HTSC) is used for the levitation and guidance. The magnetic rail is set on the ground, and flux from the magnetic rail is pinned by HTSCs. To increase levitation force, repulsive force of the permanent magnet is used. For the propulsion system, electromagnets are installed on the surface of the magnetic rail. Improvement of the propulsion force is studied. In the previous system, only flux of the permanent magnet of the carrier is used for propulsion. To increase propulsion force, that of the HTSC of the carrier is also used. Using this excitation method, the propulsion force is improved even though total number of the excited coil is the same.
