Abstract

1. As a result of experimental and theoretical investigations; a method was developed for calculating the strength of inclined sections in massive reinforced-concrete elements of hydraulic structures with construction joints, which is based on the actual design scheme of work of reinforced-concrete elements with cracks along joints, criterion of strength of concrete, peg effect of longitudinal reinforcement, and consideration of other factors affecting the strength of inclined sections, such as the height of the compressed zone of concrete, diameter of reinforcing bars, etc. 2. The use of the developed method of calculation when designing reinforced-concrete elements presumes an increase of their reliability and in a number of cases a reduction of the use of reinforcement. 3. The proposed method of calculating the strength of inclined sections can be recommended for designing elements with construction joints and monolithic elements and for refining SNiP II-56-77 with respect to calculating reinforced-concrete elements under the effect of a transverse force and bending moment.
