Abstract

To obtain high recovery strain in Fe–Mn–Si–Cr–Ni based shape memory alloys without training, the effects of ageing after pre-deformation and without pre-deformation on shape memory effect in an Fe–16.78Mn–5.5Si–8.23Cr–4.77Ni–0.48Nb–0.04C alloy have been studied, the change of microstructures has been studied through TEM. The results showed that the shape recovery ratio can be improved more markedly through ageing after pre-deformation than ageing without pre-deformation.
