Abstract
SF6 has widely been used as insulating and arc-quenching media for high voltage (HV) power equipment such as gas insulated switchgear (GIS), gas circuit breaker (GCB), gas insulated bus (GIB), gas insulated line (GEL) and gas insulated transformer (GIT) which contribute to achieve compactness and high reliability of the equipment. Improvement of SF6 insulation system in the HV power equipment is however required, if we want a further downsizing of the equipment from a view point of saving the investment cost or reducing SF6 usage that is identified as one of the potent green house gases.
