Abstract

ABSTRACT Seed germination in Asparagus racemosus Willd. varies widely ranging from 17 to 60 percent in different collections. Although all seeds exhibit a dormancy, treatment of the seeds with a 20 percent sulfuric acid solution increases seed germination to levels of 84 to 86 percent. Gibberellic acid also stimulates seed germination in Asparagus racemosus, but to a lesser extent than sulfuric acid treatment
