Abstract

We study the time response of a self-pumped phase-conjugate mirror of a BaTiO 3 crystal when small phase changes are introduced into the probe wave after the buildup of the phase-conjugate wave. The response speed of the phase-conjugate mirror is improved by a factor of 5 when the crystal is heated from 25°C to 90°C. The degree of focusing of the probe beam is also found to be important for the response speed.
