Abstract

Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) is the leading cause of maternal mortality in the United States and the world. The administration of oxytocin for control of postpartum bleeding in women is recommended and generally used with most births. However, there is no standard dosing or delivery rate. In Arizona, common postpartum order sets prescribe oxytocin and titration for control of bleeding. Concentration of oxytocin varies by institution.
