Abstract

Objective To develop psychosomatic health norm for military personnel by means of the Chinese Military Psychosomatic Health Scale. Methods Random cluster sampling design was used to select the samples.A test by Chinese Military Psychosomatic Health Scale was carried out in 11 200 military personnel from the whole army, and the data in valid sample of 10 368 military personnel was analyzed by ANOVA and t test analysis. Results Significant differences of the military personnel psychosomatic health existed in different services except respiratory system(0.42±0.81, 0.44±0.76, 0.45±0.70), reproductive-endocrine system(0.70±0.90, 0.68±0.90, 0.71±0.88, P<0.05 or 0.01), the entire status of the land force’s psychosomatic health was better than the other’s.(2)In genders, male had the better entire status of psychosomatic health. As compared with female(0.82±0.90, 1.02±1.35, P<0.05 or 0.01), male had lower scores in reproductive and urinary system(0.68±0.90)and nervous system(0.87±1.35), but higher scores in respiratory system(0.44±0.78)and psychoticism(3.31±1.52)(P<0.05). (3)In ranks, the soldier’s respiratory symptom(0.40±0.78), cardiovascular symptom(0.37±0.901), alimentary system(0.69±1.349), bone-muscle(2.20±2.54), skin(0.47±0.98), nervous system(0.83±1.35), reproductive-endocrine system(0.67±0.90), anxiety(0.65±1.14)was better than the officers’(P<0.01). Accordingly, 4 norms of the Chinese Military Psychosomatic Health Scale, including the whole norm, the service norm, the gender norm and the rank norm, were founded. Conclusion The norms of different services, ranks, genders can be developed. Imaginably, it will be a great useful offer of psychological assistance for the selection of military talent and the screening of psychosomatic disorder as a good tool.
