Abstract

The dynamic runout of the rotary cutting tool is an important factor that determines the machining accuracy. In this study, the effect of dynamic runout of end mill was investigated. To this end, we developed a device capable of measuring the dynamic runout (amount and direction) and a tool holder capable of adjusting the runout. The runout of a small-diameter end mill was adjusting based on the measurement result and machining tests were carried out. The test results showed the quantitative relationship between the dynamic runout and the tool life.
