Abstract

While we place on importance in improving the mechanical, sealant and adhesive properties of room temperature vulcanizing(RTV) silicones as adding fillers to them, we should neglect the aspect of durability for heat and humidity. The authors have succeeded in making a new hardener for RTV silicones as a replacement of organic tin compounds in compliance with the EU regulation. In this paper, heat and humidity resistances of RTV silicone composites made with the new hardener have been studied. It has been found that a combination of reinforcing and extender fillers is very important for improving the adhesive property and the heat and humidity resistances.
