Abstract

The energy interaction among CdS nanoparticles and aqueous solution of Rhodamine 6G is studied and found that emission intensity of this organic-Inorganic system increased compared to pure dye solution. CdS nanoparticles of spherical morphology and average size 3 nm is synthesized and dispersed in 5X10−6 M aqueous solution of Rhodamine 6G at various concentration levels. Absorption and emission spectrum of these samples were taken. It is found that, at lower concentrations energy transfer takes place from CdS nanoparticles to dye molecules so that emission from dye is more than that of pure dye solution. As donor concentration increases emission from dye decrease and after a certain concentration level nanoparticles quench the fluorescence from the dye. So by optimizing the concentration of nanoparticles it is possible to get maximum enhancement in dye fluorescence.
