Abstract

In this paper, we introduce a novel strategy for improvement in preparing aligned ZnO nanorods through the hydrothermal method. By optimization of thermodynamic parameters of the hydrothermal method, the photoluminescence (PL) properties of ZnO transparent conducting oxide (TCO) films modified interestingly. Solution volume is one of the most important parameters of nanorods growth through this method. High amounts of growth solutions can preferably change the crystal structure and PL behavior of prepared ZnO nanorods. The results confirmed that nanorods ordered more parallelly as the volume of the solution increased. Such that, the sample prepared with the highest solution volume showed an intense UV emission with a sharp PL peak. The high peak intensity of the PL spectra attributes to the high crystallinity of ZnO nanorods.
