Abstract

The article considers the main dynamic fracture models for local contortion of ice which are used in national and international practice as well as the prospects for their improvement. Two design models considering the modern experimental data on features of ice failure under local crushing have been studied. The dynamic ice failure model is considered as a prospective one. For its application in ice ship design, experimental investigations and corresponding design analysis need to be conducted. The modified hydrodynamic model verified experimentally in this paper can be used for ship ice strength analysis even in its present stage.
