Abstract

The tensile lap shear failure load of Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy ultrasonic spot welding joints (2.89 kN) by synchronously applying electropulsing current is significantly improved compared to the traditional joints (0.39 kN). This can be ascribed to the enhancement of interfacial plastic deformation induced by the dissolution of η' phase, which is the combined effect of electropulsing current and ultrasonic vibration.
