Abstract

Abstract An improved procedure for the application of commonly used cell and fiber stains to brain tissue cut on the freezing microtome is described. The procedure allows simultaneous staining of a large number of sections prior to mounting on slides. Some advantages of the procedure are that relatively thick sections (which would not normally adhere to slides during staining) can be readily stained, impregnation is enhanced, and staining time is substantially reduced.
