Abstract

In this study, an improved multi-layer structure was proposed to prevent delamination and permanent deformation in a rollable display. After obtaining the equivalent material properties of the OLED panel using homogenization method, the strain of each layer in rollable display was estimated through finite element analysis, and the possibility of delamination and plastic deformation was predicted based on the yield strain in each film layer and the shear strain in adhesives between film layers. As the display module rolls, the difference of displacement between layers accumulates and the shear strain in adhesives increases. The delamination and the permanent deformation has been resolved using high modulus adhesives and hyper-elastic cover film material.
